VIsiting specialists

Traveling long distances with an ill pet for referral advice can be stressful for both you and your pet! At Heath Vets we are priviledged to be able to offer the services of several specialist in their field.

We strongly believe that ancient medicine and state of the art technology work hand in hand.

Our Veterinary Surgeon Sophie Edward-Jenks offers in practice Acupuncture sessions for your pets.

Alternatively our colleague Eili Dettmering now offers Acupunture sessions in the quite, convenience of your own home.

Unlike Western medicine, acupuncture has no side effects and many people are now realising that endorphins released during treatment can potentially reduce or eliminate the need for their pet to remain on medication.

Acupuncture has evolved from the ancient art of placing needles into special locations on the body to alleviate pain, improve recovery rates and increase resistance to disease. Acupuncture can be used alongside conventional medicine and may be used to treat a wide variety of illnesses including:

  • Back Pain e.g. spondylitis/spondylosis & disc disease
  • Arthritis e.g. hips, stifles, hocks, elbows, shoulders
  • Hip Dysplasia
  • Muscle & Ligament sprains/strains and spasms
  • Paralysis/Paresis
  • Chronic gastrointestinal disease
  • Lick granulomas and other chronic skin conditions
  • Urinary & faecal incontinence
  • Epilepsy
  • Stress related disorders
  • Chronic Renal Failure
  • Immune Dysfunction
  • Wound Healing

"Acupuncture can be used for pets of any age, and not only for pain relief"
Eilika Dettmering

If you are interested in finding out how acupuncture can help your pet, please call and ask to speak to Sophie who will be able to discuss it's benefits with you.
